๐ ๏ธ Behind-the-Scenes Preparation
City staff were hard at work preparing for an important presentation related to the Hemetโs annexation planning efforts. A recently compiled series of internal emails from early 2024 reveals the extensive coordination, collaboration, and care taken to finalize materials for upcoming public and stakeholder meetings. The annexation will stretch the budget too thin and not cover police expenses. Other emails from the City of Hemet, including figures, are included as PDFs for your review. The City of Hemet’s Council meeting is also available for viewing below, where you can see the presentation from Hemet Rising/Hemet United.

๐ Whatโs Next?
With presentation materials finalized, the city is moving forward to have the city planning commission determine if annexation is a viable option.
We have the 2010 fiscal analysis from the last time the City of Hemet looked into annexation of East Hemet and Valle Vista. The number comparison will be coming soon…
๐ฌ Stay Informed
You can learn about what is on the city’ and planning commission’s agenda by going to the City of Hemet Website or we have linked the information on our City of Hemet web page. Email city leaders and the planning commission members asking your questions. We need clear answers about the future Hemet envisions for the areas they wish to manage. In my opinion, more residents are opposed to annexation than for annexation. Our online petition has resulted in 1,367 signatures against the proposed annexation. Many people are not aware of the annexation issue. Please share with your neighbors! We have signs that can be purchased at Nammers (they have the file) or we can email ([email protected]) you the file and you are welcome to print your sign at the location of your choice.

The city is in a financial “hole” with the current city boundaries.
Do NOT annex Valle Vista and all. Let that be a County expenditure.
Do not annex Valle Vista to city of Hemet, I do not want to be part of that city and do not want to pay higher property taxes.
Do not annex East Hemet and Valle Vista. We do not want to be under the City of Hemet and pay additional property taxes. The City does not seem to be able to support the area it currently has with the assets it has at its disposal.
To annex the wide area of east Hemet & Valle Vista is not wanted by many if not most in those areas. The emergency response system will need to be paid for by the city and they do not have the staff nor the budget to pay for that. Also the roads in the city limits are less than desirable as well. So how will they mange to maintain all the new roads? Work on the city first and when it is completely under control then think about expanding the borders!
